Every year our school organizes field trips and excursions for the students for their better hand-on experience and practical knowledge. Primary grades enjoy a wide array of field trips which complement and ensure the concepts explored throughout the curriculum which is an extension of their classroom learning e.g. trips to plant nurseries, Planetarium, Parle G factory, Rail museum etc. Every year higher and senior secondary student are taken for an annual picnic to various places of historical/cultural/scientific importance to set a proper co-relation between the classroom knowledge and its practical experience in the natural surroundings. Past excursions include trips to Lumbini (Nepal), Agra, Jaipur, Jim Corbett tiger reserve, Delhi, Lucknow etc.
FIELD TRIPS
The main objective of conducting a field trip for students is to reinforce experiential and contextual learning.
Field trips area a way to enhance whatever the students are learning in class by making real world connections. Depending on the trip itself, students have the opportunity to observe a particular environment that gives them first-hand experience of what they have learnt. In addition, students achieve a higher level of critical thinking when they evaluate their own learning compared with what they’re exposed to, and they are able to modify their knowledge based on their personal experiences.
Field trips also offer students and teachers the opportunity to interact outside of the classroom. Field trips also help students’ bond with each other and also enhance their social skills and life skills.
EXCURSIONS
For a student exploring the different dimensions of a park can be one of the most thrilling experiences of life. In the month of February when the weather is perfect for an outing, our students are taken out for a park for a whole day. Experience is the best teacher-and learning to take care oneself and one’s own belonging independently, without parental supervision, helps the children to become self-sufficient.
